Mt. Washington is the crowning glory of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. For those who believe that a New England winter is best enjoyed outdoors, Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center lies across the road from The Glen House, and maintains 28 miles of world-class cross-country skiing, snowshoe, and fat biking trails, as well as a snow tubing hill. The facility also has a fully equipped shop for winter gear sales and rentals. The current snow report shows all 49 trails are open and groomed.
Alpine ski resorts are just a short drive from The Glen House and include such classic mountains as Wildcat Mountain, Attitash Mountain Resort, Cranmore, and Black Mountain.
Great Glen Trails is also the departure point for an incredible sub-arctic winter experience, a trip on the Mt. Washington SnowCoach. Board the SnowCoach and travel four-and-a-half miles up the snow-covered Auto Road to the tree line at approximately 4,200 feet on the 6,288-foot mountain, the highest peak in the Northeast, with views as far north as Canada.
