Steps from SOPHY Hyde Park, the boutique hotel that anchor’s the Hyde Park neighborhood, is the future site of the Obama Presidential Center .  It will be a world-class museum and public gathering space that celebrates our nation’s first African American President and First Lady on the South Side of Chicago.

Groundbreaking is expected in Fall 2021.

It will also promises to provide’s SOPHY’s neighbors with a gathering space for celebrations, enriching the site in Jackson Park with new gardens for them to enjoy, an imaginative new playground for their children to explore, and scenic paths for early morning jogs or afternoon strolls. It will also serve to create jobs, drive economic opportunity, and unlock the potential that has always existed on the South Side. It will become a campus for the community, built in partnership with the community.
