Al Fresco Dining, A New Bike Program, and A Late-Night Menu for Night Owls
SOPHY Hyde Park continues to innovate and enhance the guest experience with lifestyle enhancements designed to make a stay at the award-winning boutique hotel a luxurious escape this summer. The hotel was recently voted the Best Boutique Hotel in Chicago by USA Today 10Best and is preparing for another great Chicago summer.
Biking in Hyde Park
SOPHY will launch a new bike program this summer, offering complimentary bikes to guests based on availability. Biking is booming throughout the city; parts of the city’s South Side saw an increase in ridership of nearly 200 percent since 20219, according to analytics company Replica, the Chicago Department of Transportation, and transportation firm Sam Schwartz. Summer cycling is a terrific way to explore the 18-mile Lakefront Trail along Chicago’s scenic Lake Michigan waterfront, visit the Museum of Science and Industry, and stop by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House. SOPHY’s restaurant, Mesler Chicago, will offer picnic meals for purchase and for stashing in the bike baskets.
Outdoor Dining Opens at The Sanctuary
The Sanctuary, Mesler Chicago’s alfresco dining area, reopens on Memorial Day Weekend. This welcoming outdoor lounge offers cocktails and lighter fare beside warming firepits beneath twinkle lights. Brunch is served on weekends, and Hours of Happy are offered every Tuesday to Thursday from 3 – 5 p.m.
Weekends are for Brunch
Mesler Chicago has become famous for refining and perfecting its legendary Weekend Brunch, tweaking the menu, and perfecting the cocktail offerings. The latest twist is Mesler’s new DJ Brunch, which starts on summer Saturdays in June.
Brunch at Mesler is a South Side tradition, served Friday through Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. Start with a handcrafted cocktail like a Patio Season, made with Bulleit Bourbon, honey syrup, and citrus, or Summertime Chi, created with Disbalef Reposado, mezcal, and simple syrup.
Chef Eddie Areola’s menu has something for every taste, from Vegetable Hash with a sunny-side-up egg, edamame, quinoa, garbanzos, broccoli, mushrooms, avocado, and house vinaigrette to a Spicy Chicken Sandwich, the signature 5th Ward Burger, a taste of the south Shrimp & Grits, and a classic Lox & Bagel.
Hours of Happy
Mesler’s Happy Hour happens Tuesdays – Thursdays, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. These hours are one of the liveliest times in the hotel, with Bartender’s Choice for $10, a glass of House Wine for $8, and selected Beers for $5. The menu includes Mesler Fries, House Wings, Signature Deviled Eggs, Petite Cauliflower, and Seasonal Burrata.
Late Night Menu
Night owls can nosh on the Late Night Menu at Mesler and The Sanctuary from 9:00 to 11:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. From Truffle Fries, 5th Ward Burgers, and Lobster Rolls to House Made Ice Creams and Sorbets, there’s something to take care of late evening appetites.
