A Swiss train ride and a cheese tasting is the perfect pairing on offer on “The Cheese Train,” a seasonal train that runs roundtrip from Montreux to Château-d’Œx from January to March, 2020. “The Cheese Train” welcomes passengers aboard in first-class compartments and during the train ride, they can taste Swiss cheeses and wine. The train passes by the largest chalet in the country, the former home of the painter Balthus, in Rossinière. The trip continues to Château-d’Œx and the restaurant Le Chalet, where a demonstration of traditional cheese production on a wood fire is given by a cheese maker in traditional costume.
